Q : Can CALA teach English if Mandarin, Tagalog, German, or any other language besides Spanish is the student's native language?
A : This question is frequently asked. No matter what your native tongue, we can teach you. We regularly have very successful English classes with student who speak 6 or 7 different native tongues - all in the same class.
Q : Are CALA instructors native Spanish and English speakers?
A : Yes, all of our instructors are native Spanish or English speakers or are bilingual to a native speaker level.
Q : Which will be more effective for me - small group classes or private lessons?
A : It depends on your learning style: group lessons are great because you get to interact and practice with others who are learning at your level. Private lessons are also very effective, as you always have the instructor’s one-on-one attention. Most students will learn even more quickly with private lessons.
Q : Where are your group classes held?
A : At our school on the Northwest corner of Cheyenne and Decatur in Las Vegas.
Q : Where do you hold the private lessons?
A : Private lessons are very flexible. They may be done at our school on the Northwest corner of Cheyenne and Decatur in Las Vegas, at your home, at a nearby library, or perhaps in your office after work hours. You tell us what works best for you.
Q : What do ESL, ELL, and LEP mean?
A : ESL = English as a Second Language; ELL = English Language Learner; LEP = Limited English Proficiency
Q : How long are the group classes?
A : Group classes are 2 hours long, and are held 2 times a week for 8 weeks - for a total of 32 hours of class time. If you have a group and would like to set up a different schedule please call and let us know what you have in mind.
Q : Will I have homework in my classes?
A : Yes, you will have homework between your classes to help reinforce the lessons and keep the new language in the front of your mind.
Q : Will I have tests in my classes?
A : Each learning level will include unit assessments and an assessment at the end of the course. This will help you to see the progress you have made.
Q : Do you have any programs for kids?
A : Yes, Trampolín™ is our Spanish or English program for kids 3-14 years old to help them get a jump start learning another language.
Q : Is it more difficult to learn another language as we grow older?
A : No, at CALA we believe the more experience you have, the easier it is for you to learn another language. The key is to learn with the right methods and in the right settings.
Q : Will I receive a certificate at the end of the class?
A : Yes, you will receive a Certificate of Completion for each learning level you complete. |
